Addressing the Divide in Education through Research, Practice, and Policy
ADA University in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan is delighted to announce its 7th International Education Conference 2024.
The 7th ADA Education Conference is timed to the 10th anniversary of the State Strategy on Development of Education (2013) that emphasized an instrumental role of education in human capital development, social mobility, poverty reduction, economic development, and overall advancement and global competitiveness of nations. To make this promise effective, education systems while designing and implementing policies and practices must have an explicit and ongoing focus on equity and equality, inclusion and social justice. However, in spite the decades of ongoing education reforms in Azerbaijan, national and international assessment evidence has been increasingly demonstrating a growing divide among learners in terms of access to quality learning opportunities, well-being and learning achievement levels. The trend of growing divides probably represents a monumental challenge for a national education system.
Why and how educational policies, practices and resource distribution may perpetuate inequalities leading to and reinforcing social and economic stratification, rural and urban discrepancy, divide around gender and language of instruction, talent and health status, and asymmetry in providing growth and advancement opportunities to different groups of population? The complexities raised by these divides are and will remain central to the work of creating equitable education systems. We need to embrace our collective thinking to create equitable education system that honor every individual learner.
In this Call, we are interested in scholarly work that explores ambiguities, paradoxes, and tensions of educational equity and equality. Our Call’s focus is in scholarly work that may suggest creating policies and paradigms that address the divides, support equity and justice during formal schooling and other learning spaces across the lifespan and across domains, with attention to both individual and collective well-being.
This year the 7th ADA Education conference, being an academic forum that brings together scholars, policymakers, independent researchers, educational practitioners and students, highlights the need, in accordance with its title, to directly address one or more of these divides being faced and contribute to the debates in the educational community.
In line with this, ADA Education Conference is seeking for submissions related to the following conference topics:
Teaching and Learning
Leadership and Educational Institutions
Assessment and Evaluation
Life Long Education and Development
Teaching Resources and Infrastructure
Vocational Education
Education Towards Inclusion for All learners
Education Policy, Research and Finance
The Conference is intended to be broad, encompassing panel discussions, presentations of research findings and poster sessions that address divides in education and explore the policies and practices having a potential to promote equity and well-being of all learners. Authors presenting at the conference will be awarded with certificates and get opportunity to have their full papers published in the conference proceedings.
