Position Description: Professional Fellows Program Coordinator

WORK HOURS: Part-time; 20 hours/week

SUMMARY:
American Councils for International Education administers the Professional Fellows Programs (PFP) on behalf of and in coordination with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The PFP Coordinator will play a key role in developing this exciting program as it continues to grow and will work closely with the Program Manager in Washington, D.C. as well as in-country staff and coordinators in other countries.

The PFP affords promising young professionals from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, and Ukraine the opportunity to have first-hand experiences in, and exposure to, United States offices working on a variety of issues related to governance and NGO management. The knowledge and interest of the fellows will be expanded through short-term fellowships in a variety of American organizations and applied to their work in their home countries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify interested organizations and individuals for the Program;
- Brainstorming ways to reach applicants who are not exchange program alumni;
- Identifying and reaching out to appropriate places to advertise PFP;
- Contacting possible applicants with information about the PFP program;
- Answering questions about the PFP program and its application process;
- Planning and conducting information sessions for prospective applicants;
- Ensuring that all applications are complete and following up as needed for any missing information;
- Coordinating PFP selection and interviews.
- Coordinating in-country travel and US visa application process.
- Maintaining clear channels of communication with the Program Manager in Washington, D.C.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor in international affairs, government, and program administration or a related field of study or currently working on a Bachelor's.
- Experience with program participant recruitment;
- Familiarity with American Councils programs;
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively;
- Knowledge of MS Word & Excel;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; detail-oriented; comfortable making public presentations; outgoing; and
- Fluency in English and the local language, Turkish would be a plus.
