Workshops are being organised by Lamiya Korchiyeva – Alumni of U.S.Department of State – Global Ugrad Exchange Program. Lamiya is current Managing Director of P World Azerbaijan and co-founder of LinQuality Translation company.
Photography has become Lamiya’s passion for the past 7 years. When she studied business management at Bethany College in Lindsborg,Kansas she took “Film Photography” courses to discover the actual world of photography.
This led her to idea of inviting her professor Jim Turner to Azerbaijan to conduct series of workshops and give an opportunity to young people like her to learn and embrace the art of photography with inspiring people around and with this knowledge and skills contribute to development of photography art in Azerbaijan.
About Workshop Leader:
Jim Turner is a working professional photographer. He lives and works in Lindsborg, Kansas where he has operated his business – Turner Photography for 43 years and The Brickstreet Gallery for the last twelve of those years.
He was born and educated in Lindsborg, served in the U.S. Navy where he was trained as a navy photographer.
In addition to his own commercial work Jim also likes to produce and show fine art photography often working with large format black and white film. He processes and prints his own silver prints in his studio darkroom. His colour work is all digital using Nikon cameras. He is former professor of “Photography” in Bethany College.
In addition to his work in Kansas, Jim has been assistant on numerous National Geographic assignments with NG photographer Jim Richardson. These assignments have taken him to Scotland (a number of times) , England, Wales, Ireland and Nova Scotia as well as assignments in the states.

U.S. Embassy created an Alumni Mentor/Advisor Exchange (MAX) program to support continued professional relationships between U.S. Government Exchange alumni and their American host advisors, supervisors, professors, and mentors.
The Alumni MAX program supports a U.S. Government Exchange Program alumni alumnus/a, working in collaboration with a host mentor or advisor, to create and implement a professional education workshops and seminars in Azerbaijan. Mentors/advisors would travel to Azerbaijan to conduct or co-conduct workshops focusing on continuing professional education with and for the alumna/us and their non-alumni peers and colleagues.
Participation in Workshop is FREE.
