The Center for Data Analytics Research (CeDAR) at the ADA University is the research center with goal to facilitate research that contribute to scientific and technological excellence. ADA University through its CeDAR research center aims to boost Data-driven Machine Learning and Deep Learning research using the latest advances in computing. The CeDAR plans to hire Platform Engineer who will be responsible to set, run and maintain computing infrastructure and software platforms to enable sustainable operation of the research infrastructure at the CeDAR to be utilized by students, researchers and faculty members at the School of IT & Engineering and other schools of ADA University. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: • Installation, setup and configuration of the required infrastructure and platforms; • To support faculty and research students with task automation and experiments; • Streamlining of the research and experimentation lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• The Platform Engineer will stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. He conduct research, tests, and execute new techniques which could be reused and applied by other users. • The Platform Engineer is also held responsible for maintaining high availability of production and non-production hardware/software (research) environment for faculty members and researchers. • The Platform Engineer trains professors and researchers about reusable tools and patterns demonstrating easiest, most effective and streamlined ways of using technology.

Requirements

• At least BS Degree in Computer Science or another Technical Field; • At least 5+ years of experience as a technical specialist. TECHNICAL SKILLS: • experience in config management (Example: Shell, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform) • experience in Linux system administration/engineering experience • experience with scripting/programming language (Example: Shell, Python, Ruby, JS, Go) • experience with deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes) • experience in the software development process, tools and languages like Python, R, Java, Shell-scripting, MongoDB, MySQL, and Git. • experience with setting GPU-based computing pipeline with NVIDIA CUDA toolkit (Example: CUDA-X AI SDK with libraries) • demonstrate knowledge in handling distributed data systems (Examples: Cassandra, Hive, HBase, Hadoop HDFS, and others) PERSONAL SKILLS: • A Platform Engineer must be a result-oriented individual, be self-motivated, and proactive beyond their duty. Candidate should be capable of multi-tasking, and work in a collaborative environment, creative, highly analytical, and strategic thinker; • As this area is rapidly changing extending to new concepts, platforms and tools, it is extremely important for candidate to be passionate about learning being open for new knowledge, doing research and hands-on experiments.
