Career Advisor, School of IT and Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY: Career Advisorat ADA Career Management Centre (CMC) delivers programs and services designed to assist ADA students in the area of career preparation and leadership development skills. Career Advisor works collaboratively with students, faculty and corporations to integrate services and meet the needs of ADA students in their career preparation process, including instructorship of required Career course. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides professional assistance and/or consultation to undergraduate and graduate students of the School of IT and Engineering who requests help in planning or implementing his/her career direction; • Administers professional formal and informal assessments to help students identify their areas of interest, values, potential and competences; • Assists in the development and delivery of career education and outreach programs, including Career Development Skills & Strategies course; • Instructs Career Development Skills and Strategies Course to the undergraduate students of the University followed by coordination, placement and supervision of credit-bearing internship experience of students (teaching load is defined as max 2 sections per semester, each taught once per week); • Delivers other formal academic and non-academic courses, seminars and workshops in career and professional development; • Assists with the liaison and consultative relations with faculty, staff, administration and student organizations of the School of IT and Engineering; • Delivers other formal academic and non-academic courses, seminars and workshops in career and professional development; • Maintains all counseling records as appropriate for performance of counseling functions; • Represents CMC at campus/community functions such as Career Week and other events and programs; • Supports in establishment of interview opportunities and job opportunities for current students and alumni through campus visits from potential employers and job fairs; • Integrates and coordinates wide-ranging career and experiential learning programs and services, including career advising and development, service learning, internships, volunteerism and work-study programs; • Assists as required, with any evaluative procedures to be used to measure the effectiveness of services delivered by the CMC. Develops and submits annual and semester reports on student career statuses and further career plans; • Collaborates with faculty and staff and supports CMC team to identify current and future needs of students of different majors in the School of IT and Engineering, providing direction, support, and information on career development issues; • Actively assists in development and marketing of services and programs offered by the CMC to students and employers; • Meets with individual students to provide career advising and conduct mock interviews as requested; • Advises on vision, direction, implementation strategies and assessment plans for career development and services; • Supports in utilization and development of career information resources; • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree in the related fields of HR, Counseling or Psychology, Social Sciences; • At least 2-3 years’ experience in career advising and services, HR & Development, corporate recruitment or recruitment consultancy. Prior experience providing career counseling or advising for undergraduate/graduate students in a university setting is a plus; • Knowledge and experience of teaching at least 1 year is required; • Understanding of recruiting, career services, career development and student development is a must; • Ability to work effectively with student and adult clients; • Ability to work with individuals and groups. Must be proficient with technology (MS Office Suite) and interested in identifying and adopting technology to reach and connect with our target audience. • Open and friendly personable attitude; • Strong customer service orientation; creativity, ability to assume responsibility, take initiative and motivate others; • Proven ability to design, present and deliver programs/workshops; • Well-developed organizational skills; • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, strong verbal and written communications skills; • Proficiency in Azerbaijani and English languages is a must.
