The primary objective of the Student Mental Health Counselor is to support the mental health and well-being of students by providing individual and group counseling services, mental health education, and crisis intervention. The counselor will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other mental health professionals to create a supportive and healthy learning environment.
The Student Mental Health Counselor will work primarily in an office setting within the educational institution. The role may involve occasional evening or weekend work to support student needs and participate in events.

Counseling Services:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students experiencing a range of emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues;
- Conduct assessments to identify students' mental health needs and develop appropriate intervention plans;
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all counseling practices;
Crisis Intervention:
- Respond to mental health crises and provide immediate support and intervention;
- Develop and implement crisis response plans and protocols;
- Coordinate with external mental health services and emergency services as needed;
Mental Health Education:
- Develop and deliver workshops, seminars, and programs on topics related to mental health, stress management, and wellness;
- Create and distribute educational materials to promote mental health awareness and resources available to students;
Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and administration to identify and support students in need;
- Consult with parents, guardians, and external mental health professionals as appropriate;
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and coordinate care;
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, interventions, and referrals;
- Prepare and submit reports on counseling activities, student progress, and program effectiveness;
Program Development and Evaluation:
- Assist in the development and evaluation of mental health programs and services;
- Gather and analyze data to assess the impact of mental health initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Tələblər
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or a related field;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in counseling, preferably within an educational setting (experience in youth mental health);
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people;
- Knowledge of mental health issues affecting students and familiarity with evidence-based practices;
- Fluency in English and Azerbaijani, working knowledge of Russian is an asset;
- Compassionate and empathetic;
- Culturally sensitive and aware;
- Proactive and able to work independently.
